Maybe a review on the "La Traviata" episode in Billboard Magazine (Mar. 3, 1951,page 6) will answer some of your questions. I try and post a link and hope it comes out alright.

Interesting...I presume to the episode I saw listed was a different one from a differnt date and that the show switched station/network during 1953, as Paley Center for Media listed the network as "DuMont", while WPIX was an Independent station at the time...and the chances of the local version ever being kinescoped are slim. I do wonder, if the DuMont version was as bad as the WPIX version.

I didn't even know there was a WPIX version!
